
The objective of this project in partnership with FIDA Kenya was to safeguard human rights of
women and children by providing training to community safeguarding mentors and follow-up of
human rights violation cases through referrals and linkages. 10 safeguarding female community mentors were taken through self-realization, discovery process and how to incorporate life skills in their safeguarding work. The skills were to enlighten young girls in the communities to understand their rights and raise their voices through the legal processes in addressing violations. The training covered; sexual offences act, the Children Act, parenting and referral pathways. 22 locational paralegals were trained on legal procedures and issued with FIDA help lines and toll free numbers for reporting violations and abuse. These numbers were at their disposal if need arose in cases of an emergency or referrals. On December 9th 2020 TYSA female coaches, safeguarding female community mentors and young people joined the world in celebrating the 16 days of activism dubbed Orange the world.
